Meadow Anemone is a perennial wildflower blooming in late spring and early summer.  The basal leaves are only about 6" tall with flowering stems reaching up to 2' tall.  The white flowers are about 1.5" wide with 5 notched petals.  The plant prefers full sun to partial shade and moist soils.  It is found in moist grasslands, woodland borders, along streams and in swampy areas.  Stringent chemicals in the leaves cause a very bitter taste that few animals will eat.
