Monkey Flower is a 1' to 3' tall native perennial that prefers full sun but will tolerate some shade. It is principally a wetland plant, preferring wet to moist soils along stream banks and in wet meadows, ditches, and swamp borders. The flowers are two lipped and are usually blue, but may be pink or pinkish white. It has a long flowering period and is found in all but the desert southwest states and Florida. Monkey Flower is easy to grow and is suitable for use in rain gardens, detention areas, and wet meadows or water features. Monkey Flower is a good wetland wildlife habitat plant and is a desirable pollinator conservation plant.
