Nodding Bur Marigold is a 2' to 3' tall native readily self-seeding annual. This is a sparingly branched plant with the upper branches terminating in numerous bright yellow sunflower-like blossoms. Nodding Bur Marigold requires moist to wet soils, tolerates flooding, and is much less tolerant of dry conditions than most other Biden species. The plant prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade. Sticktight is another common name, referring to the seed awns that stick to fur and clothes as a dispersal mechanism. This is a favorite food of numerous birds.
