Erect Goldenrod is a 1' to 3' native perennial; however, it is usually less than 2' tall except in ideal conditions. The small clusters of bright yellow flowers are arranged in a spike on the upper half of the stalk. Erect Goldenrod flowers in late summer and early fall. It grows best in dry to medium moisture soils and full sun, but tolerates partial shade well. This goldenrod is shorter than most other goldenrod species and is not at all aggressive in the garden. It has a long flowering period and is used in native plant gardens, wildflower meadows, and in open woods plantings. Bees and butterflies are attracted to this plant.
