Sawtooth Sunflower is a 5' to 8' tall native perennial that forms colonies from its spreading root system (single plants may be much taller). This is a late summer flowering plant that grows best in full sun and moist fertile soil, but will perform reasonably well in a variety of soils and moisture. Flowering stems branch near the top of the plant producing individual or clusters of showy bright yellow 3" to 4" wide flowers. The common name refers to the serrated leaf margins. This is a large plant that requires a lot of space in the garden, but when in full bloom it is magnificent. The seeds are relished by quail, pheasant, dozens of song birds, ground squirrels, voles, and other small rodents. This is an important pollinator conservation plant, especially for native bees.
Prices listed are based on pure live seed weight, not bulk weight. You are only paying for viable seed.
