Culver's Root is a 4' to 7' tall native perennial featuring dense, 6" to 12" long, terminally bunched spikes of tiny, tubular, bright white flowers that open from the top down producing an extended flowering period. This summer flowering plant prefers medium to wet soils in full sun, but will tolerate some partial shade. This is a regal plant ideal for gardens and is widely used in native plant gardens and wildflower meadows. The root has been used as a cathartic and the common name is after Dr. Culver who prescribed the root as a laxative.
