Prairie Dock is a 5' to 8' tall native perennial with large deeply cut basal leaves and a nearly leafless flowering stalk. The plant features large showy 4" wide yellow daisy-like flowers with as many as 20 or more petals (rays). Prairie Dock is a late summer and fall flowering plant that prefers dry to medium soils in full sun sites. It is similar to S. terebinthinaceum and S. laciniatum and was once thought to be a hybrid of these two species. Its distribution is limited and it is listed as threatened or endangered in 3 of 7 states where it is native. It flowers above the tallest native grasses and is a great native garden or wildflower meadow plant. Birds love the seed and it attracts hosts of butterflies.

Prices listed are based on pure live seed weight, not bulk weight. You are only paying for viable seed.
