Little Bluestem is a 2' to 4' tall, native, perennial, warm season bunch grass. It is adapted to a wide variety of soils and soil moisture and can withstand some shading. It is perhaps best adapted to well-drained, dry, poor soils. As an ornamental it is a valued plant in borders, native gardens, and wildflower meadows. Little Bluestem is perhaps our most important native grass for wildlife habitat, especially for ground nesting birds. Bare ground between the clumps allows for travel, bugging sites, nesting areas, and predator cover. Aldous Cultivar plant material is from the Flint Hills of Kansas, south of Manhattan, Kansas and is medium-late maturing.
Prices listed are based on pure live seed weight, not bulk weight.
