The plant features spike-like inflorescences of erect spikes of small showy 1/8" wide tubular, five lobed, blue flowers. Blue Vervain is primarily a wetland species and requires moist to wet soils and does best in full sun. Its native distribution covers all the lower 48 states. It is easy to establish and is a good plant for water features, ditches, retention areas, pond edges, and wetland restoration projects. Blue Vervain was used for a variety of ailments by Native Americans and it is a great pollinator conservation planting species.
