Regions 2,3,4 ex FL - Dry-Med
Whorled Rosinweed is a 3' to 6' tall native perennial that gets its common name from the whorls of three to four leaves that continue to the top of the plant and from the sticky resin that forms when the plant is broken or cut. The bright yellow daisy-like flowers are 2" to 3" wide and have 8 to 10 spreading petals (rays). Its native distribution covers most of the eastern US and the plant prefers dry to medium soils and full sun, but will tolerate some light shade. This hardy plant grows well in gardens, wildflower meadows, and conservation and restoration plantings. Birds relish the seed and gardeners wishing to collect the seed may find it difficult to beat the birds to the seed.
