Regions 4 - Dry-Med
Short Leaf Blazing Star is a 3' to 5' tall native perennial featuring showy terminal spikes of purplish pink flower heads. The name refers to the short narrow leaves growing tight against the mid-stalk. This attractive Blazing Star is restricted in its native distribution to the coastal plain area of Ala., Ga., Fla. and SC., growing best in sandy soils and full sun. It is sometimes slow to establish. It is valued as a garden and wildflower meadow plant. It is a must for the regional pollinator garden.
