Regions 2,3,4,5,6 - Dry-Wet
Red Bud is a 15' to 30' tall native perennial small tree. Small bright pink blossoms seem to cover the bare branches and adorn woodland edges and roadsides into a seemingly endless bouquet in mid-April. Red Bud is a member of the Legume family. It grows in moist well drained soil in full sun or part shade, but will perform well inmore dry to medium soils. For the gardener or landscape professional this small tree is a valuable asset for shrub border, specimen tree, woodland edge, and along driveways and roadsides. Many birds, including quail, eat the seeds and deer browse the plant. Native Americans used the plant to treat fever, whooping cough, and congestion.
