Tickseed Sunflower is a 2' to 4' tall native annual usually found growing along shores, in wet fields and ditches and quite often in disturbed soils. It grows well in full sun or part shade and usually flowers in late summer. This species of Bidens is rarely used in gardens and landscaping due to absence of, or much reduced, ray flowers. The disc flowers are yellow but are far from showy. Like other Bidens species, the barbed awns on the seeds stick to fur and clothing to aid in dispersal. The real value of this plant is the cover and food it provides for wildlife. Upland birds, song birds, and waterfowl relish the seeds and muskrats eat the plants.
Prices listed are based on pure live seed weight, not bulk weight. You are only paying for viable seed.
