Toothache Grass is a 2' to 3' tall native perennial warm season clump grass with a native distribution restricted to the southeastern coastal plain. It is a summer flowering grass that grows in moist to wet nutrient poor soils and prefers full sun sites. The seed heads have an unusual appearance and this plant is sometimes used in wetland garden settings due to these novel seed heads. Most often Toothache Grass is used in restoration and conservation seed mixes. The common name is in reference to a chemical in the plant that has a numbing effect on the mouth when chewed.
Prices listed are based on pure live seed weight, not bulk weight. You are only paying for viable seed.
