Path Rush is a 1' to 2' tall native perennial member of the rush family found in all 50 states. The common name refers to the ability of this plant to withstand the damaging effects of heavy foot traffic and still flourish. It will grow well in dry rocky soils and in wet swampy sites. It prefers full sun sites, but will do well in partial shade. It has small inconspicuous flowers in clusters from the culm near the top of the plant and blooms in spring and summer. Path Rush is an easily grown plant with uses as groundcover, in erosion control, in water features, and, of course, in paths.
